Tessa, Me: How Three Ingredients In One Bottle Stop Blast

Rice blast is a plague of rice paddies. During epidemics, the disease destroys up to 60–70% of the crop. Shchyolkovo Agrokhim is introducing a new fungicide, TESSA, ME, to its fields-Russia's first three-component nano-formulation approved for application by drones and aircraft.

One liter of TESSA, ME contains three active ingredients: pyraclostrobin (150 g/l) + propiconazole (70 g/l) + difenoconazole (45 g/l). This product has a therapeutic and prophylactic effect. Thanks to the powerful contact properties of pyraclostrobin, pathogen spores cannot penetrate the protective "armor" it forms on the leaf surface. Difenoconazole , acting close to the leaf surface, stops the infection process that has already begun, and propiconazole , a more mobile component, inhibits the growth of the pathogen's mycelium throughout the leaf structure, penetrating areas where the product has not reached. Thus, the product provides three-level protection of the leaf from disease. Preventive treatment of checks or at the first detection of symptoms is recommended.

The Federal Rice Research Center in Kuban has been collaborating with Shchyolkovo Agrokhim for many years, conducting production trials on rice farms. According to joint trials, yield reductions from blast in normal years range from 5–25% . According to the Federal Rice Research Center, treatment with TESSA, ME , over the years of testing, has maintained yields from 20 centners per hectare (single application) to 30 centners per hectare (twice applied), with control yields ranging from 40 to 60 centners per hectare . Field trials of TESSA, ME in rice paddies confirm a protective period of 4–5 weeks.

"The microemulsion formulation ensures rapid penetration of active ingredients to the site of infection and immediate action on the pathogen ," experts note, drawing on their experience studying similar formulations.

The application rate for rice seed crops is 1.0–1.3 l/ha. The product is compatible with most insecticides and growth regulators and can be used in tank mixes.

The main technological advantage is that TESSA, ME is officially included in the registry of pesticides approved for aerial and unmanned application. For rice farmers, this is not an option, but a practical solution. Ground equipment in sticky fields damages crops and compacts the soil. A drone treats a field in minutes-evenly, without losses or unnecessary stress on the plants.

TESSA, ME - for seed production sites where phytosanitary purity is critical, for fields with a history of blast outbreaks, and for farms already using aviation or agrodrones.

Shchyolkovo Agrokhim JSC is an official partner of the 33rd International Exhibition of Agricultural Machinery, Equipment, and Materials for the Production and Processing of Agricultural Crop Products, YUGAGRO. Consultations with the company's specialists will be available at booth D3003 in pavilion 4 at YUGAGRO 2026 from November 17 to 20.
