New sunflower hybrids developed under the Federal Scientific and Technical Program for the Development of Agriculture will be presented at the YUGAGRO 2026 exhibition.
The hybrids Ymir, Callisto and Phobos are included in the State Register of Varieties and Hybrids of Agricultural Plants Approved for Use.
The Ymir hybrid is an early-ripening variety intended for cultivation in the Clearfield production system. It is resistant to imidazolinone herbicides. It is characterized by high yield (3.21 t/ha), 48.1% oil content, and resistance to broomrape (races A-E) and downy mildew (races 310, 710, and 730).
The Callisto hybrid (mid-season maturity group) was developed for sulfonylurea herbicide systems. It is resistant to the highly virulent G-race broomrape (thanks to the Or7 gene) and downy mildew (races 330, 710, 730, 334, and 734). Yield is 3.76 t/ha, oil content is 47.8%, and oil yield is 1.62 t/ha. Developed for the Central Black Earth, North Caucasus, Middle Volga, Lower Volga, and Ural regions.
The Phobos hybrid is a simple interline hybrid developed for traditional (herbicide-free) cultivation and belongs to the mid-early season group. Plant height averages 155 cm. Its main distinguishing feature is its genotype's combination of high productivity and resistance to race G broomrape (both parent lines are resistant to this pathogen), as well as resistance to three races of downy mildew (330, 710, and 730).
"Ymir, Callisto, and Phobos were created to meet specific agricultural needs: resistance to pathogens and adaptability to the extreme weather conditions we've recently observed in various regions. The extensive experience of our partners at VNIIMK and RUSEED's high production standards allow us to bring products to market that meet modern challenges ," noted RUSEED Innovation Director Sergey Teteriuk.
Previously, the Mars, Pluton, and Triton sunflower hybrids, also developed under the Federal Scientific and Technical Program for Agricultural Development, were added to the State Register of Agricultural Plant Varieties and Hybrids Approved for Use. In total, 15 high-yielding sunflower hybrids will be introduced to the market by 2027 under the RUSEED program and VNIIMK.
RUSEED is a sponsor of the 33rd International Exhibition of Agricultural Machinery, Equipment, and Materials for the Production and Processing of Agricultural Crop Products, YUGAGRO. Consultations with specialists will be available at the company's booth at YUGAGRO 2026, which is being held at 1 Congressnaya Street, Expograd Yug Exhibition and Congress Complex, Krasnodar.
